  • Proud to have a SIZA Audit completion Letter:  Guideline for Using the SIZA Logo Responsibly

Completing a SIZA audit is more than just ticking a box — it’s a way of doing business and a visible commitment to sustainable and responsible practices. For many farms and packhouses, this achievement reflects the collective effort of an entire team dedicated to ethical labour practices and environmental stewardship. Naturally, some businesses wish to showcase this success by using the SIZA logo as a symbol of pride.

However, displaying the logo — whether on marketing materials, your website, signature or packaging — carries a responsibility. It’s not just a symbol; it’s a statement of ongoing compliance and integrity.

What Does the SIZA Logo Represent?

The SIZA logo signals that your business is a low-risk, ethical, and sustainable supplier, enabling you to supply with dignity and trust. For buyers, it assures that your farm meets rigorous responsible sourcing standards, making you a dependable and credible partner.

SIZA supports this recognition and will gladly provide the correct logo and guidance on its usage. To maintain the programme’s credibility, specific conditions must be met — not only at the time of use, but continuously.

It is important to note that if the logo is used on supermarket packaging, every product in the carton or punnet must have been audited under the SIZA programme. Packaging cannot be reused to carry other products not originating from South Africa and audited by SIZA.

To be eligible to use the SIZA logo, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

Firstly, you need to sign a legal Agreement with SIZA to ensure you understand the legal requirements of using the logo.

Secondly, you need to take note of the following:

Active Membership:

The business’s SIZA membership profile, Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs), and audit information must be current and up to date at all times.

Audit Rating:

Only suppliers who have undergone a third-party social and environmental audit and received a Silver, Gold, or Platinum risk rating for both audits can use the logo.

Corrective Actions Completed:

All corrective actions following the audit must be completed, with the audit status reflecting as “Completed.”

Packaging Use:

If the logo is to be used on packaging materials, it is the company’s sole responsibility to ensure that all content originates from SIZA-compliant suppliers and that the terms of the agreement are upheld.

Third-Party Use Restrictions:

Retailers, importers, and exporters may not use the logo on packaging unless the product includes content from a verified SIZA supplier.

No Misuse or Misrepresentation:

The logo must not be used in any way that misleads consumers, misrepresents the product, or harms the reputation of SIZA, the South African brand or the product.

Environmental Considerations:

The SIZA logo may not appear on packaging materials that are harmful to the environment, such as non-recyclable or non-biodegradable materials.

Respect for Brand Integrity:

The logo must not be used in a way that negatively affects SIZA’s name, image, or compliance with legal and ethical standards.

A formal agreement governs using the SIZA logo; any breach of the conditions may impact a member’s compliance status. For full details and conditions, please click here to download the SIZA Logo Agreement.

Show your commitment with pride — but always with integrity and respect.
