The Importance of Formally Cancelling Your SIZA Profile
Since SIZA incurs ongoing costs for data storage and third-party licensing—including a profile-based fee to its platform host, Salesforce—it cannot indefinitely retain expired or inactive accounts. By officially cancelling your account, you help maintain transparency, avoid unnecessary charges, and protect your professional standing. Taking this step also ensures a smoother reactivation process in the future, as AI systems retain profile data indefinitely.
Please remember that you cannot sell your Audit Confirmation letter when you sell your business. Once a company has been sold, the new owners need to open a new profile and start their compliance journey from the beginning.
It’s important to understand that while you may have received a three-year Platinum Audit Confirmation Letter, its validity depends on SIZA’s ability to monitor your practices between audit periods. Once your profile becomes inactive, this agreement is no longer in effect—your visibility and transparency with buyers and linked platforms are lost. As a result, SIZA will revoke your audit confirmation, as you are no longer an active subscriber to the programme, and SIZA can no longer manage the risk for all parties involved.
Financial accountability until a formal cancellation notice
It is important to note that subscribers are still liable for all outstanding fees until their cancellation has been formally processed and accepted because SIZA incurs licensing and hosting costs for each profile, regardless of usage. Delaying the submission of your cancellation form may result in more charges that could have been avoided through prompt action. Please remember that by signing the SIZA Terms & Conditions, you commit to covering account fees until your subscription is formally cancelled.
Account Cancellation: Steps and why it is important
Cancelling the account with the Sustainability Initiative of South Africa (SIZA) is a process that must be followed with care and clarity as per our terms and conditions. Whether you are exiting the agricultural compliance space or simply stepping away from the programme, it is vital to understand how cancellation works and why following the correct procedure matters.
Procedure for cancelling your SIZA account
You must complete and submit an official Cancellation Form to the SIZA office to cancel your SIZA subscription. The form ensures that your cancellation request is recorded correctly and allows us to process the closing of your account efficiently. Please note that once your cancellation is processed and accepted:
- Your visibility on partner and buyer platforms will be removed.
- All your stored data will be removed and made invalid, including Audit Completion Letters, Bridging Letters, Audit Reports, and any buyer linkages, credibility, etc.
- Access to your profile and historical documentation will no longer be available.
What to consider when you decide to cancel your account
Remember that once your account is cancelled, re-registering in future will mean starting the process from the beginning, rebuilding credibility, visibility, and buyer relationships from scratch. This can result in significant delays and lost opportunities when trying to join the market or gain stakeholder trust. Once the data is deleted, we cannot recover or capture the old data again. Therefore, please ensure that you speak to your export, import, or retail company before you make this decision.
If you are considering cancelling, we encourage you to contact the SIZA team to request the relevant form and guidance. Your cooperation in completing this process helps us manage the system efficiently and ensures your profile is handled with the professionalism it deserves.
