Social (Ethical Audits):
From 01 April 2023 until 31 March 2024, 713 SIZA Social (ethical) Audits were conducted in South Africa on farms and packhouses. These audits were conducted throughout various seasons and included a wide variety of agricultural crops and commodities. A total of 5 898 findings were raised during this period. However, it’s amazing to see that 5 467 (93%) of these findings have already been addressed and resolved in full. This showcases the commitment and dedication of agricultural producers to drive improvement within the industry.
It is also fantastic to see that the majority of producers achieve the longer audit validity period by achieving a Platinum risk rating following their third-party social audit. In total, 88% of all producers achieve Platinum and Gold, which is a testament to how South African producers are meeting labour standards and social responsibility in their businesses.
Environmental (Sustainability Audits):
From 01 April 2023 until 31 March 2024, 83 SIZA Environmental Audits were conducted in South Africa on farms and packhouses. A total of 196 findings were raised during this period, and 173 (88%) of these findings have already been addressed and resolved in full.
It’s incredible to know and see that 95% of all producers who underwent a SIZA Environmental audit are achieving Platinum risk ratings. This just shows how sustainable the industry already is and the effort that most farms and packhouses are putting into meeting global standards and national legislation.
