  • Strengthening Oversight: New Dashboards and Risk Reporting for Audit Managers

Over time, SIZA has continued to refine how risk is identified, monitored, and managed across the audit process. Following enhancements to the MySIZA platform in 2025, the SIZA technical team identified an opportunity to develop bespoke risk reports and dashboards tailored to the Audit Manager of each individual audit firm. These dashboards draw on existing system data to present meaningful, actionable insights to Audit Managers.

The response from Audit Managers who are already using this functionality has been exceptionally positive so far, with many highlighting the value of improved internal oversight and clearer visibility of audit performance across their teams. It helps managers identify shortcomings and potential challenges sooner, so they can be resolved proactively.

The danger of poor oversight

Effective oversight at the audit firm level is essential to maintaining credibility with markets and buyers. Delays in completing audit reports or insufficient monitoring of high-risk findings can create reputational and commercial risks long before information reaches external stakeholders.

The new dashboards provide Audit Managers with:

  • A consolidated view of all audits
  • Visibility of high-risk sites and critical findings
  • Clear tracking of report timelines
  • Early identification of bottlenecks or overdue actions
  • Trend analysis across a firm’s audit portfolio

These insights enable more proactive risk management rather than reactive follow-up.

The impact on audit timelines

Greater oversight directly supports improved turnaround times for audit reports. When risks and delays are visible early:

  • Audit Managers can intervene sooner
  • Queries can be resolved more efficiently
  • Reports can be finalised within agreed timeframes

Early intervention and timeous reporting strengthen confidence in the integrity of the audit process.

What this means for suppliers

While enhanced oversight supports audit firms, it also underscores the importance of suppliers’ timely corrective action.

It is crucial that corrective actions are addressed within the allocated timelines. Delays at the farm or packhouse level impact overall audit completion and the validity period of an audit.

SIZA remains committed to continuous improvement of risk management and transparency within the audit ecosystem. For more information, please contact Carmen Botes by phoning the SIZA office on 021 852 8184 or sending an email to carmen@siza.co.za.
