  • Going Green with your Business… Because There Is No PLANet B

Many South African farmers agree that our planet is under stress and that we need to invest in alternative systems to reduce our negative impact on the environment. There are various things you can do as a business owner to make your company more environmentally friendly and sustainable. Composting, recycling, implementing energy-efficient lighting and appliances, and creating environmental policies/management plans are all excellent methods to protect the environment.

Consider making your business more sustainable by minimizing energy usage and reducing excess waste. To achieve these goals, consider adopting routine recycling practices and encourage employees to be mindful of their consumption habits. As waste production and recycling form part of a business’s key performance indicators (KPIs), it is essential that its waste footprint is monitored using metric data. To assist producers and business owners with the latter, SIZA introduced the Digital Recordkeeping programme that has the functionality to capture electricity usage and waste production.

Overall, by thinking critically about environmental concerns when making decisions about your business operations and supply chain, you can take meaningful steps toward reducing your carbon footprint and becoming a good green enterprise. SIZA is the perfect programme to support you with this journey.  If you need assistance, please contact Amber Smith at SIZA (amber@siza.co.za)
