As part of the SIZA capacity building toolkit, SIZA offers a variety of initiatives for suppliers to get involved with.
In order to stay up to date with the SIZA Environmental standard, new initiatives, and changes to legislation, it is essential that members attend training regularly. During 2022, SIZA will be hosting several online webinars and live training sessions in the different regions, which will consist of the following:
- Environmental Compliance Webinar
- Environmental Legislation Webinar
- Environmental Compliance Training (in person)
- SIZA Digital Recordkeeping Workshops (in person)
Environmental Compliance Webinars
As part of SIZA’s capacity building programme, SIZA offers compliance webinars to members on the requirements of the SIZA Environmental Standard. The Environmental Compliance webinars focus on the implementation of the SIZA Environmental standard and what to expect when booking a formal third-party environmental audit. These webinars will cover the whole of the SIZA Environmental standard across its five components, namely: Management Systems; Minimising Negative Impacts; Measured and Efficient Use; Shifting to Alternatives; and Conservation of Biodiversity and Ecosystems. These webinars will be hosted in March, May, July, and September. Invitations to register will be sent out six weeks before each webinar.
Environmental Legislation Webinars
The Environmental Legislation webinars were implemented for members to better understand the South African environmental legislative requirements and how they apply to agriculture. The Environmental Legislation webinars focus on the interpretation and application of South African legislation across the four cornerstones of the environment, namely: Soil; Water; Energy, Materials and Waste; and Biodiversity. These webinars will be hosted in February, April, June, August, and October. Invitations to register will be sent out six weeks before each webinar.
SIZA Environmental Compliance Training (in-person)
In addition to the online environmental compliance and environmental legislation webinars, SIZA will be hosting several in-person training sessions. Different from the webinars, these training sessions will focus on the core issues of the environmental standard and the areas where findings are raised during audits and will not cover the standard as a whole.
