ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL AUDITS

The SIZA Environmental third-party audit is not a pass/fail exercise. The purpose of the audit is to measure suppliers’ compliance against the SIZA Environmental Standard, in order to identify areas on the site which are non-compliant and that require corrective actions and improvement. The aim of the SIZA programme is to support suppliers in ensuring compliance and ongoing improvement in environmental performance. The SIZA Environmental programme is a benchmark for producers to prove compliance with South African environmental laws and globally recognised good agricultural practices. The environmental audit is therefore not a tick-box exercise and involves proof of evidence and implementation. Third-party environmental audits are conducted by accredited, independent audit companies, which ensures the programme’s objectivity, credibility and transparency.
